A DORK AT HEART

Release Date: April 14, 2003

Press Release: Cosmo Girl

The usual...a 'dork'.....An Outtake from "Cosmo Girl"

After all, she grew up on Party of Five, had public love affairs (and breakups) and she's even got a few of her own albums under her belt. But the real Jennifer is not as slick as you might think. In fact, she thinks she's a dork!

Jennifer Love Hewitt spills all about having her heart crushed, taking make-or-break career risks, and being pushy (literally!)

Read on for an outtake from CosmoGIRL!'s exclusive interview with Jennifer Love Hewitt.

CG!: Some of the songs on your new album, BareNaked, seem really personal. Tell us the story behind one of them.

JLH: "Stronger" is about some of my experiences in love. The reason I wrote it is that I wanted young girls to know that it is okay to think you've fallen in love, and then fall in love again. It's okay to get your heart broken and want to scream and cry from it and it's okay to have a boyfriend that doesn't treat you well and then still believe that there's somebody out there who will.

CG!: So where does the "stronger" part come in?

JLH: Every time we get out of a relationship or every time we go on a date, or every time we have feelings with a boy, the only thing we get to take back is a little bit more strength.

CG!: Great philosophy! Sounds like you've learned a lot about love.

JLH: I don't want to portray myself as somebody who's been in love a lot, because I haven't. I've met a lot of great people, which is important to do when you're young, because it helps you learn about yourself, and it helps you figure out who you're going to be, and who you're not going to be.

CG!: Have you had a major heartbreak?

JLH: Yeah, I've been cheated on. And when someone does this to you, it is the hardest thing to wrap your head around and not think there's something wrong with you.

CG!: What are some things you look for in a boyfriend these days?

JLH: The biggest things are trust and loyalty. I want to have somebody that's going to be equally supportive. Being supportive of somebody is being willing to let go of your selfishness enough to give over and say, "This is their moment. They just need me."

CG!: Are YOU a supportive girlfriend?

JLH: I love loving people. I love taking care of people. And I love being supportive. I'm really good at just being the girlfriend.

Don't sell yourself short, Jennifer. You're good at everything!
