*NSYNC's "CELEBRITY" ARRIVES

Here are new pics of Love at the NSYNC and Jive Records Host A Record Release Party for NSYNC's New Album, "Celebrity".

The wait is over-- NSYNC's new album Celebrity comes out today (July 24), much to the delight of the group's millions of fans. Group member Lance Bass told LAUNCH that no matter how well the album sells, or what the critics may say about it, *NSYNC plans to be around for quite a long time.

"I think the cool thing about us is, we as best friends will go on to do a lot of things together. I think *NSYNC will be around really forever," Bass said. "I think we'll continue to come together and make music and release albums even if only five people get it.

Maybe we'll have like a big production company together and we'll have artists and that type of stuff that is very successful because we can't sell anymore albums, but I think together we will do a lot of things."

Bass's groupmate J.C. Chasez joked, "It's kind of like the old saying, 'Two heads are better than one.' Well, five are pretty cool, too." *NSYNC is scheduled to perform on NBC's Today show on August 20.

"LEGALLY BLONDE" WINS CASE AT U. S. BOX OFFICE

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - ``Blonde'' ambition paid off for actress Reese Witherspoon as her new comedy, ``Legally Blonde,'' surprised observers by debuting at No. 1 at the North American weekend box office.

At the other end of the scale, Steven Spielberg's ``A.I. Artificial Intelligence'' continued to plummet, according to studio figures issued Sunday. After three weeks of release, the highly publicized sci-fi drama now ranks at No. 9.

``Legally Blonde'' pulled in $20.4 million in the three days since its Friday bow. ``The Score'' a heist thriller starring Robert De Niro, opened at No. 2 with $19 million, a record for the actor's dramatic oeuvre. Last week's champion, the family comedy ``Cats & Dogs,'' slipped to No. 3 with $12.0 million.

Observers had expected box office honors to go to ``Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within,'' a sci-fi cartoon inspired by a popular Japanese video game. In the end, the film ranked No. 4 with a disappointing $11.5 million. The bullish forecasts had been based on the film's strong $5 million Wednesday launch.

Overall box office receipts fell for the third consecutive weekend, underscoring industry concerns about the lukewarm summer moviegoing period, when the industry makes most of its money. Studio executives said good weather across much of the country kept fans away from theaters.

However Witherspoon fans are a resolute lot. The ``Legally Blonde'' figure marks the biggest nonsequel opening for its studio, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., a company spokeswoman said. The film is also MGM's third No. 1 for the first half of this year, after ''Hannibal'' and ``Heartbreakers'' starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.

FINAL FANTASY: THE SPIRITS WITHIN

TODD McCARTHY, the Daily Variety Chief Film Critic gave a good review, starring ER's MING-NA as Dr. Aki Ross from Columbia Pictures. (Please note that Todd McCarthy is a legitimate reviewer than Columbia Picture's DAVID MANNING.)

Here is a piece of that review:

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - If the studios had needed a secret weapon during the recent contract negotiations with the Screen Actors Guild (news - web sites), they could have used ``Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.''

The first major release to feature an entire cast of computer-generated human characters, this big screen adaptation of the long-popular interactive computer game is visually impressive if dramatically cool, and is marked by ``acting'' that is no worse than that found in the majority of sci-fi films.

Curiously, then, for a film that's both animated and a sci-fier, most of the interest stems from the appeal of its principal character. A cool, composed, dark-haired beauty who resembles a blend of

.....and Bridget Fonda, Dr. Aki Ross is introduced on an exploratory mission to Old New York City in 2065. In terms of narrative, which involves Aki and some friendly soldiers shooting at elusive light forms in the ruined streets of the city and later being scanned for contagion, initial action is fairly confusing. But this doesn't matter much, since one is absorbed during the opening stretch simply beholding the physical look of this new artistic universe.

Ironically, Alec Baldwin (is in this movie as Captain Gray Edwards) who is in the future upcoming movie, THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.
