STUDENT GETS HER 15 MINUTES OF FAME
Thursday
morning I had an eighth-grade student from
Harwood Middle School, Denise Murphy, follow me
around the Evansville Courier & Press
offices.
Denise,
14, was paired with me by our Human Resources
Department so she could see how a reporter does
his job. All of our qualified reporters already
had important assignments and, after wrestling me
away from the soda machine, Denise was fortunate
to land me as her job shadow.
I
wanted to show Denise how quickly things can be
performed in the newsroom, so I thought I'd
incorporate her into our Good Morning column as a
dossier.
Our
dossier is a feature of our newspaper that
normally runs on Wednesday on the cover of our
Spectrum section. Normally, dossier subjects are
well-known community leaders, so I thought it
would be interesting for everyone to see how a
14-year-old answers similarly posed questions as
adults.
Enjoy
your 15 minutes of fame, Denise. I hope it's not
your last shot in the limelight.
