We're used to seeing Jennifer Love Hewitt in designer dresses
but not with food smeared down her clothes. The Ghost Whisperer star wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty as she helped feed the homeless at a special Thanksgiving dinner in downtown Los Angeles. Between 2,500 and 3,000 people benefited from the celebrity meal, which also featured free health checks. While handing out plates, Jen proudly showed reporters the mess she'd made of herself: "Look, I got mashed potatoes on my sleeve earlier!" Her actor fiance Ross McCall was equally pleased to be getting down to some hard work: "We've got our hands dirty and burnt. We're covered in mashed potato, it's exciting." "It's a great cause," he added. "What a wonderful thing that you get to deliver a hot meal to someone who needs it." As millions of Americans sit down to a turkey dinner and reflect on what they're thankful for, Jen said she and her beau feel incredibly lucky: "We've been very blessed in our lives to have a lot so it's nice to be able to give back." Hewitt – who is a regular at the annual event – was also full of praise for the work of the Los Angeles Mission, where the event was staged: “What they do all year round, besides just what they do on the holidays, is really inspiring.” Ross explained how they'll be hanging out with Jen's relatives for Thanksgiving: "We're going to hang out with family." Jen joked that her fiance had it easy: "I'm cooking, he's eating." "And then we're sleeping," Ross added. |
