"I'm a hopeless romantic"

Jennifer Love Hewitt could not have a more fitting middle name. (Though originally it's her first name when she was born---named after her mother's college best friend. The "Jennifer" came from her brother Todd based on an old crush he had. Today, he's currently married to Michelle.)

After all, the actress is in love with love these days and says she can't wait to settle down.

"A marriage proposal would be awesome!" reveals the 27 year-old. "I'd love to feel that special to someone."

So what kind of proposal is the star of "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" and TV's "Ghost Whisperer" looking for? "I would fall for the whole prince-down-on-one-knee thing is a heartbeat," she says, "but I'd also say 'yes' to someone I really loved if they just did something simple from the heart."

Sound sappy? Jennifer's just fine with that: "I'm a hopeless romantic!"

IN TOUCH: You character on "Ghost Whisperer" got married. Was it fun playing a bride?

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT: Oh, I loved it! I never wanted to take that Vera Wang wedding dress off!

Do you believe in ghosts?

I have to because it's my job to convince people who watch the show that I do. Really, I believe in anything that gives you hope, and the idea that there are people out there are people out there who help us through life is hopeful.

Have you ever seen a ghost?

No, but one night my friend was at my house and she heard someone banging pots and pans in my kitchen. When I got home, I went to look in my kitchen and all my dishes have been moved!

Are you similar to the vet you play in GARFIELD?

I absolutely love animals and would do anything to take care of them. I have a heart of a vet, just not a brain!

Do you have any pets?

A dog, Charlie. She's hilarious and, I feel, very human. When she takes naps, she sleeps on her back and snores!

Garfield has given you a whole new fan base.

Little kids come up to me all the time and asking me how Garfield is feeling and have I've given him a check up lately! I would do Garfield 3, 4, and 5 just for that.

What else are you working on?

I am producing through my Love Spell Entertainment production company and performing on an Oxygen channel show called "ANGRY LITTLE GIRLS." It's going to be a female version of "South Park" with a bunch of angry little girls telling people off!

Sounds like you're busy. What do you do to relax?

I clean out my refrigerator. I love it and I do it all the time. There's something very calming about that.
