Another dream came true...

by Amy Roiland (pictued) as told to Jim Mix

I found out about the "Comedy For A Cure" benefit to raise money for Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance from the internet. My wonderful and great father made the arrangements to contribute $100 each (on behalf of myself and my father) for the tickets to this charity event held at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood, CA.

My dad was also good friends with a woman who was handling the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance benefit.

My father had a lengthy phone conversation that convinced this woman in allowing me to meet Jennifer Love Hewitt at the benefit. I was so happy!

So my father took me to The Laugh Factory on Sunday, April 28, 2002.

The event was at 8:00 PM, but my father and I arrived at 7:30 PM. I also had a picture of Jennifer Love Hewitt for Love to autograph.

But then all of a sudden, she came walking out of the main entrance of The Laugh Factory.

Right there on the famed Sunset Boulevard, I was star struck by her presence and beauty.

The TV entertainment news program "Extra" interviewed Love outside the comedy club establishment. I stood there and took some pics of her as she was being interviewed. She was so cute!

Then after the interview, I immediately approached Love and asked Love if I can have a picture taking moment with her. She was so nice and definitely said "yes"!

So some lady took some shots of me and Love while my father stood back with a digital camera and also took some pics of me and Love.

Then my father reminded me to get Love's autograph, and Love obliged to autographing my picture of Love. When Love saw the picture of herself for Love to autographed, she said, "WOW! This is an old picture of me!" It was all I could get at the time. It was a 1998 picture of Love at the Blockbuster Awards. Love signed it "with all my heart", "xoxox" and "love always, j.love." I just went to this store in Hollywood, CA. A female employee who ran the store thought I was Jennifer Love Hewitt. I laughed and said, "no". But I told her I was gonna meet Love. This woman was kind enough to give me the 1998 picture and much more free stuff of Jennifer Love Hewitt including the "Cant Hardy Wait" card board stuff I can put on my door of my rooms. She said it was worth a lot! And I got it for free. So she was cool.

Back to the signing at the Laugh Factory.....while Love was signing my picture, my father said to Love, "My daughter is your biggest fan" and so much stuff like that, that I felt kinda dumb, but Love kept saying, "thanks, thanks."

Patricia Heaton

She is so, so, so down to earth and so beautiful and I was so happy! I waited to meet Love ever since I became a fan of hers when I was 13 years-old, and now my dream came true!

I just turned 18 on August 12, 2002.

Then Patricia Heaton from "Everybody Loves Raymond" arrived for the benefit. She was the co-hosting the benefit with Love.

(From Jim Mix: Before "Everybody Loves Raymond", Patricia Heaton played Sarah's (played by Love) biological mother in a couple of "Party Of Five" episodes.)

All ticket buyers including my father and I entered the comedy club for a couple of hours of fun and entertainment with the two hostesses.

Later inside the Laugh Factory, I saw Love walking by my table. I got her attention for a moment and handed her a letter I wrote her with some pics of me. She said, "thank you, thank you!!" Then she took a seat, not too far from me. No one was around her. The music of Janet Jackson was being played over a sound system and Love was singing and dancing to Jackson's music in her seat by herself. It was so cute! I was laughing! She later told me this was her first time here at The Laugh Factory. Mine, too.

During the show, there was an auction for celebrity items. Patricia Heaton was auctioning off a guitar. Love's mom, Mrs. Pat Hewitt started the bidding for the guitar. I don't remember how much the bidding started at, but it was funny to see Love help out her mother in the bidding for the guitar.

And in the end, Pat Hewitt won the bidding!

Later, it was Love's turn to auction off something of her own. It was a turquoise necklace she was wearing tonight.

She went on stage, she was dancing and acting goofy (LOL!!), and she said, "Whoever buys this (turquoise necklace) for some big price, I will give you a kiss." Some guy won that and Love gave him a big kiss! It was cute!!

After the show, the woman who ran the benefit was kind enough to get me an autograph of Love's on a Laugh Factory book.

As the show came to an end, Love was alittle tired and she left the club with her mother and a bodyguard. But this was a moment in my life to finally meet Jennifer Love Hewitt, a woman who is an inspiration to me to be myself, act crazy sometimes (LOL!!), have fun, and always follow your heart!

I myself, want to be a famous model one day and I know I can do it! And after watching Jennifer Love Hewitt over the past years in her career, I know I have the confidence to make MY dreams come true. And my family will always help me along the way to make my dreams come true just like how Pat Hewitt believed in her daughter.

As a matter of fact, I am a 'Journey Girl' for Journeys Shoes. Their website for their merchandise and catalog is located @ www.journeys.com

Months later on August 2, 2002, I saw Love at the taping of Nickelodeon's "All That".

She was the music guest on the kids' version of "Saturday Night Live", performing her new single, "BareNaked". I had a brief conversation with Love. I told her that I was disappointed that her album CD, "BareNaked" (Jive Records) was moved back (at that time of this brief conversation) to October 1, 2002. She told me, "no, no, it's September 17th." It appeared Love did not get the message from the record label that her CD was bumped back.

A week later, Jive Records bump it back again to October 8, 2002, the official USA release date.

On August 4, 2002, I saw her at the 4th Annual Teen Choice Awards where once again she was one of the music guests performing her single, "BareNaked". I did not get a chance to speak to Love backstage, but I did manage to speaking briefly to her mother, Mrs. Pat Hewitt---a woman where Love gets her looks and her sweetness from.

I also got to meet and grab to hug, AARON CARTER!!!!!!! Don't we make a great couple?!!! (LOL!!!!!!!!!!). Click the pic on the right for a big hug!

Well, I hope to meet Love again, soon. But that's my story of that first moment in my life. Thank you so much for reading my story. Maybe one day, a girl can look up to me as much as I did, to Love.

Be an 'inspiration' to all.

One year later after meeting Love, Amy and Josh met their new friend....actress/singer HILARY DUFF!
