I was invited to a private party in Toronto, due to my busy schedule, I hadnt been out on the town in a while, and my friends convinced me that this would be a great night to go, so I said sure why not. We arrived REVIVAL NIGHTCLUB, a little early. The owner of this club---also a friend of mine---suggested that my friends and I go for a drink at another one of his establishments, down the street, VENI VIDI VICI (a Italian restaurant). After 45 minutes we decided to head back to the first club, to see if anyone had arrived. We went upstairs to say "hi" to my friend, the owner. All of a sudden, we looked to the left and saw one of the stars of "The Tuxedo", JACKIE CHAN sitting at the table with his family and friends. So my friends and I approached him to say "Hi". We all gave him "High fives" and he was cool! A Great guy! Then my friend and I went out to the car to get the camera. On the way, we saw a vehicle with tinted windows pull up to the club. We thought nothing of it. We went back into the club to take some pictures of Jackie. But Jackie said, "no pictures, please", which was totally understandable. |
| But then little did I know, the
vehicle that pulled up in front of the club, early, one
of the passengers was JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT!!!!! She
entered the club on crutches with her mother, PAT HEWITT,
and friends and bodyguard. A friend of mine approached her bodyguard to ask if it was ok to take some pictures with her. The bodyguard asked Love, she looked over, and said Ok. As I was standing there waiting, Love was talking to her mom. While she was talking to her mother, I turned away to talked to my buddy for a moment. Then we both turned around at the same time and standing there, staring at us, was Love. I thought to myself, "great, what do I say now". She made it easier by saying, "Hi". So I said "Hi". It was a click! We didnt really say much at all, just smiled, and began to pose for pictures. Preparing to pose together for the photos, she hugged me! While hugging me, she leaned back and said "hold my leg". I started laughing! And then I apologized for my hands being cold (the weather up here in Canada is COOOOOLLLLLDDDDD in December!!!!). Love said, "dont worry about it". After the photo, I said, "thanks", she said, "no problem". My friends eyes popping out of their head to see what I had experienced. I walked over to our table they were raising me, Big Time! I said to them "wouldnt you like to be me" (HA-HA)! |
A few minutes later, I headed downstairs, and ran into Love. She said "Hi!" So I replied, "Hi," again. There was no time to chat, (too much chaos) and her bodyguard was right there walking her up to the front of the dance floor. My friends and I walked up to the stage to check out the band (as a musician, myself, I wanted to check out the guitar player. He was smokin` as well as the rest of the band). As I looked around I noticed Love groovin on the dance floor with her friends----and MAN! SHE CAN DANCE even with a sprained ankle! She turned and looked over at me and I thought nothing of it. My buddy noticed she looked over a second time, and he said to me, Whats wrong with you? Get out their dance!" I replied "Whatever." Then he pushed me onto the dance floor. I thought, "Great! Her bodyguard was going to protect her because he thought I was approaching her like a threat. I could feel him burning holes in the side of my head. Hes a big dude!" |
| But it didnt turn out to be
that way. No, I ended up dancing with Love and her
friends! It was cool! Then my friend ended up joining us
after the dance. Later on, the band took a break, and everyone was entertained with a film of outtakes from the film, "The Tuxedo". They were hilarious! While showing the film presentation, it was odd. Loves status really didnt phase me. She was herself. And happy. Finally, I got the opportunity to talk to Love, asking her about the crutches and wrap on her ankle. I said, "Whats up with the ankle?" She replied, "I sprained it on the set after trying to kick somebody" (laughing). I said, "that must be brutal walking around on crutches." She said, "ya, its a bit of a pain, but its not too bad. I managed". I said, "I can tell. It doesnt seem to bother your dancing (laughing)". Then she then asked me what I thought of the film? I said "the film is pretty wild, you and Jackie are too much! You guys are hilarious! (laughing)". She said, thanks, I had fun doing it." Later on.....It was getting late, and I noticed Love waving to her Mom upstairs, I guess this was a signal it was time to leave. Her bodyguard reached over for her crutches. I put my hand behind her back as I helped her off the dance floor as we approached her bodyguard with the crutches. |
| Then
I went looking for my friend as Love was about to leave
the club after a great night. I walked around and ran
into Love again by the front door. Her bodyguard stopped
me as he was pushing people away, so she could get
through the crowd. Love hobbled by on her crutches and
thought to myself again, "Wow! She grooved the whole
night and seemed to have had a great time! And the
ankle thing didnt seem to phase her. That was
cool! On her way out, I happened to catch a glimpse of
her turning and smiling. I smiled back. It wouldve been cool just to hang with her even more----shoot some pool or somethin or grab a slice of pizza .whatever .without all the hype and big dude---the bodyguard, and maybe next time I will have the pleasure of meeting her Mom! After all, Im glad I went out on the town! Love is really cool and down to earth! Her smile and looks are attractive! But her personality and wild laugh are the best! I respect Love 100% for her hard work and commitment in her career. BEST OF LUCK, LOVE...and THANK YOU!! Story & Images: Jay Dukeshire and Rob Acciaroli. |
