Esquire magazine, the award-winning magazine for men, is the major co-sponsor, with Clear Channel Radio Los Angeles. The event is underwritten by The Abbey Food & Bars David Cooley and event producer Jeffrey Sanker. APLA, one of the largest non-profit AIDS service organizations in the United States, provides bilingual direct services, prevention education and leadership on HIV/AIDS-related policy and legislation. Founded by four friends in 1982, APLA is a community-based, volunteer-supported organization with local, national and global reach. For more information, visit www.apla.org An eclectic mix of hipsters, hotties, celebutant and fashionistas found themselves at The Abbey in West Hollywood for an Oscar viewing party benefit for APLA, (AIDS Project Los Angeles) hosted by Esquire Magazine and singer-actress/producer Jennifer Love Hewitt. Guest viewed the ceremonies while dining on sumptuous meals like Scottish salmon, potatoes, caesar salad and roast beef prepared by Abbey chefs. Following the telecast, The Abbeys Finlandia Ice Bar was transformed into an after-hours dance party where celebrities and donors danced the night away. Celebrities included Maverick Records Exec Scott Austin, actress Erika Christensen, "Napoleon Dynamite's" Jon Heder, "JAG's" Cathrine Bell, legendary model Cheryl Tiegs, actress Golden Brooks, actor John Ratzenberger, "Survivor's" Jeri Matheny, "Million Dollar Baby" star Lucia Rijker, comedian legend Tommy Chong, "Everwood's" Chris Pratt, "Desparate Housewives" Andrea Bowen, singer Gwen Stefani, actress Kelly Hu, actress/producer/director Penny Marshall, radio personality and "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, Steve Pearcy of RATT, Victoria Recano, "The L Word" Rachel Shelley, former "Party Of Five" star and the star of "Party Animal" Wilson Cruz, "24's" Roger R. Cross and others enjoy the night at The Abbey. The $1,000-a-plate dinner raised more than $250,000 for AIDS Project Los Angeles. Jennifer Love Hewitt, in a white Ellie Saab gown and Neil Lane jewels, provided a humble take on her evening emcee duties. "I very rarely get invited to the coolest Oscar parties," said Hewitt, "let alone get to host them, so I was really excited about doing this." Hewitt also says she hosted the party as an AIDS fundraiser in memory of a friend who died, and she promised his parents that she would help fight for a cure. (L
